Raised by Music are recruiting!

Violin tutor (2 afternoons per week) and cover tutors (occasional days), £36/hour, fully flexible with paid continuous professional development opportunities

Raised by Music is a small community foundation based in South London. Our mission is to nurture the highest standards of musicianship in young people, with a particular focus on broadening access to high quality music education and increasing participation in classical music from under-represented backgrounds.

We are currently recruiting

  • a violin tutor to work 2-3 afternoons per week with our new cohort of 7 pupils
  • cover tutors (violin) to undertake occasional afternoons teaching violin to primary age pupils (when our regular tutors accept playing work)

Both vacancies will be based at a host primary school in Streatham Common, Lambeth, London.

In our innovative concept, pupils have a 20-25 minute 1:1 lesson every single day of the school year. This enables pupils to make rapid progress and contributes to a highly rewarding teaching environment. We offer paid CPD opportunities, such as the opportunity to observe distinguished string pedagogues teaching and exchange ideas. We also offer full flexibility to accept playing work alongside your teaching, by having a pool of DBS checked tutors ready to cover.

Requirements

The successful candidates will be high calibre upper strings players, able to communicate musical and technical ideas in a simple and engaging way to primary age pupils (age 6 upwards). You will have some experience of teaching beginners/ younger players and excellent skills in communication and sometimes persuasion!

If you believe in the power of music to transform young lives and would like to apply, please send a 1 page CV detailing your relevant experience as well as a cover letter to the email address on our Contact page.

The closing date for the vacancy is 23rd December 2025 though we may be able consider later applications from outstanding candidates.
